British Council lists its own prices and promos on its booking page. When we checked, it was advertising PHP 1,000 off IELTS on computer, so compare both before you pay.

Paper IELTS has ended. Here’s what that means for you

British Council stopped offering IELTS on paper in the Philippines from 21 June 2026. IDP has also announced that IELTS is moving to computer-only delivery worldwide from mid-2026.

For you, that means three things:

  1. Faster results. Computer-delivered results usually arrive in 1 to 2 days.
  2. More test dates. Computer sessions run through the week, so it’s easier to fit a date around your shift.
  3. New skills to practise. You’ll read long passages on screen and type your Writing answers. If you’ve only practised on paper, take at least one computer-based mock test before you book.

Academic or General Training? Pick the right one before you pay

Both cost the same, but they’re different tests, and the wrong one won’t count. Nurses registering in Australia (Ahpra) or the UK (NMC) need IELTS Academic. General Training is used for some migration and work visas. Check the exact test your regulator, school or employer names before you book.

When the One Skill Retake is worth it

If you missed your target in just one skill, you may not need to repeat the whole test. The One Skill Retake costs PHP 8,320, which is PHP 6,150 less than a full test. The rules:

  • You must book and take it within 60 days of your original test.
  • Your original test must have been IELTS on computer.
  • You get one retake per full test.

Not every organisation accepts it, so confirm with yours first. Also check whether your regulator lets you combine two sittings. Ahpra and the NMC both do, within 12 months and with conditions. Sometimes a second full test is the better choice.

How to book IELTS in the Philippines

  1. Confirm your target. Note the test type (Academic or General Training, UKVI or not) and the minimum score for each skill.
  2. Choose your provider and city. Book with IDP or British Council and pick a test centre near you.
  3. Book online and pay. Bring the same ID you registered with on test day. Each provider lists the IDs it accepts on its booking page.
  4. Take a mock test first. Book your real test once your mock scores are at or near your target.

How IELTS compares with other English tests on cost

Test Fee in the Philippines
PTE Academic USD 230 (about PHP 12,790)
IELTS on computer PHP 14,470
OET (all four sub-tests) AUD 587 (about PHP 21,800)

Price shouldn’t decide your test, though. What your regulator accepts and which format suits you matter more. For nurses, see our guide to OET vs. IELTS.
